Date Functions

Hi,
I really like your product. I have been a developer for over 30 years and have seen lots of different products. Maybe I haven't seen it but I would like to see the following as built in functions.
1. Day of Week that will give you "Sunday", "Monday" etc. Currently I wrote my own function to do this. Was it difficult, no. Would I have expected it as a built-in function, yes.
2. Month of Year that will give you "January", "February". As above I wrote my own function.

How goes this request and similar ones get implemented?
