Dynamically filter data by URL
It would be nice if there was a way to dynamically filter data in a form view based on a customized URL.
I can think of two ways this could be useful...
Single-record filter:
When a user enters data into the form, they can automatically be e-mailed a confirmation message. It would be nice if there was a way to include a link for them to click on that would enable them to view and/or edit the item they just submitted (without having to search for it). I know there is a way to view a specific record by ID number, but it would be nice if there was a way to edit a record by ID number as well.
Multiple-record filter:
Most of my site visitors do not have a Zoho Creator account. This makes it very hard to create a form view that enables them to only view their own submitted information. If I could create a filtered view of the form data that could include filter criteria directly in the URL, I could progromatically create a link for the user on my own Web site that would take them to a view of their own data. For example, I could have an input field on my Web site where they could enter their e-mail address and click "submit." I could program the submit button to direct them to a URL based on the e-mail address they entered. The Zoho Creator view could be set up to only display records with an e-mail address field that matches the one in the URL.
This functionality would greatly increase the usefulness of Zoho Creator in many Web sites. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to filter by multiple fields to create a functionality similar to a username/password combination.
For example, I have created a "Subscribe to e-newsletter" application that allows users to submit their e-mail address to me. For privacy concerns, I can't provide a link to the user to modify the e-mail address (or any other information) because doing so would allow him/her to see the other subscribers' information. But if I could create a URL-based filter, I could provide a customized URL specific to each user to make changes to the record. I know other people use Zoho Creator to allow people to register for events who have a similar problem. They can't provide non-Zoho members the ability to view/edit only certain records.
This would be a great feature to include in future releases, if possible.
I have to say, I absolutely love Zoho Creator!
