Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share the experience I had (and still have as there is no immediate fix) with Zoho Creator.
I've trial the platform for about a year just to see in what way I can integrate it into our business. It was a long process and finally found some areas where this platform is more than the perfect fit. Everything worked fine and have completed an application demo to present to the business. Everything worked fine. Management was impressed on how fast the development was done and how well it works on both mobile and desktop platforms. But their main requirement was to use it for mobile devices. So no problem here. Next step was to get a subscription (which I did) implement the final application and deploy it into the productive environment. Everything went fine until the launch day when all of a sudden on the mobile version of the Creator there was a strange error message saying "Permission Denied To Add Records" which caused the entire Deluge script to be ignored and made the form useless.
I've contacted Zoho support and they had a look and acknowledged there is a glitch in the account settings and it is something the developers need to fix. It will be fixed "soon" I've been told. Have waited 24 hours - no reply. Contacted the support via chat and got the same reply - soon. Have waited again a few days - same scenario - have sent follow-up emails but got no replies then contacted support via chat and the reply was "it will be fixed soon". And there we go in the same style for 2 weeks now. In the last chat session the representative said "I'll give you a good news by the end of the day". I imagine you will be very surprised if I tell you there was no update and no good news either... Last contact was actually a phone conversation and the representative again said it will be fixed soon but cannot tell me when as it is a problem that only affects me... there you go - ain't me lucky?
in the meantime the business is keep asking me where is that fancy application of yours and maybe we should had stick with the good old classic ASP.NET and in-house development... That's the downside of the cloud - when something hits the fan and you're alone there is no interest in a speedy fix (however I think 2 weeks would be a reasonable time to fix a glitch that potentially could affect others).
Anyway, that's my rant for today. If anyone has anything similar to share please do. It's better to know all these facts before you commit to a project... it might happen to you too :)
