Subject: Feature Request: Ability for users to apply partial coupon balances per transaction
Currently, our coupons are "one-and-done." If a user has a $50 coupon but only spends $30, they either lose the remaining $20 or are forced to spend more than they intended. This creates a rigid user experience and can lead to "cart abandonment" if the user feels they are wasting the value of their coupon.
I suggest implementing Partial-Use Coupons. This would transform a coupon code into a declining balance (similar to a gift card).
Key Capabilities:
Balance Tracking: The system should track the remaining balance on a single coupon code across multiple transactions.
User Selection: At checkout, the user should be able to decide exactly how much of their coupon balance to apply (e.g., "Use $10.00 from my $50.00 credit").
Residual Payment: If the coupon doesn't cover the full total, the app should allow a secondary payment method for the remaining balance.
Increased Loyalty: Users feel they have a "wallet" with us, encouraging them to return to use their remaining balance.
Flexibility: Gives the customer control over their spending, leading to a higher satisfaction rate.
Reduced Support: Fewer manual requests to "reactivate" a coupon that was partially used by mistake.
