Get website name from URL

Get website name from URL

Hi,
I am using the URL field to collect data.
Inspite of providing the "link name" instruction to website name,
Not many bother to enter the website name

Hence a looong string of URL is seen
Or there is a series of "click here" (I have set default link-name= click here)

Is there any way i can dissect the url so that
From the url http:\\www.abc.com\2003\Jan05..
.. i just get the www.abc.com

(ie whatever falls inbetwee http:\\ ...... and .... \ )
