Introducing the Setup page Customization in Zoho CRM

The Setup page in CRM serves as a one-stop place from where you and other members in your organization can access all the features. So, it's important to list out only those features that are required and used more often in daily business practice. Besides, many organizations are compelled to use their applications to perform certain actions and may want the details to be reflected and accessed from within CRM for various reasons. In both the cases, the best approach would be to filter out and display only the requisite features along with the additional applications right in the Setup page for easy accessibility and navigation by the team members. This is something that you can achieve with the Setup page customization.

Let's take a look at the list of things you can do with this customization:
  • Adding additional configurations
Beneficial for organizations that use other application along with CRM in their business. The admins can avoid toggling between CRM and the additional application by adding these as widgets to the CRM setup page. It will also give them complete control of the settings and other configuration related panels from a single place.

  • Renaming features as preferred in the business vertical
Based on one's business vertical, CRM features may be referred with different names. Like, a marketing company may prefer "connections" to "channels", an interior design company may choose "personalize" to "customization" and so on. For familiarity and better understanding across the organization, the admins can rename the standard features to their preference.
  • Repositioning the groups
Something as simple as preferring to see a particular category before another. Like, automation as the first category in your Setup page followed with channels, then customization and so on. One can reposition these main groups by dragging and dropping them to preferred places in the Setup page.

  • Reordering the features
The above concept applies to the features that are within the main group too, for example if you use only social media and portals for communication, then moving these two features to the top of the list under "Channels" would make navigation much easier. So, with this customization you can reorder the features in the main group according to the frequency of usage. Reordering can facilitate better visibility and ease navigation for the team members.

  • Toggle feature visibility
Sometimes, you may be unsure about the usability or requirements of a certain feature. In such cases, instead of cluttering the Setup page with too many unused features, you can just toggle them off temporarily. Or, you can permanently toggle off a feature to restrict its visibility from other users in your org.

  • Setting appropriate permission for the features or widgets
The applications or features that you add under a menu are called submenu. So, based on the type of action these features or widgets are supposed to perform, you should select the permission that they should be categorized under. The list of permissions that are available are:
    • Module customization
    • Manage automation
    • Zoho CRM API access
    • User management
    • Migrate data from other CRM
    • Social Admin
    • Personal Social Profiles
