inviting users

trying to invite users to only use the form which I created in a tab. I created users, selected apps they can use and sent the invites but one of two things happen or don't happen in the process
1) noone gets the invite email
2) no shared app appears once they log in
I have read the FAQs and followed closely; what gives????
