Is there a way to automate the input of a note on a contact?

Is there a way to automate the input of a note on a contact?

So if I change the status of the transaction, it would be great if the contact would have a note auto generated that says, for instance, Transaction Closed.  Currently my team manually enters these notes and sometimes forgets and when someone is reviewing a file via notes they don't know if or when something happened unless they navigate to somewhere lese.
