linked data

I have a form where I want to display a linked field. The linked field I want to display also has a linked field that I want to display. How do you select the reference since its not listed as a reference in the dropdown.

ie.
have a country form
have a region form which has a linked field to the country
on a third form I want to select the region (linked field) and have it display the region and its associated country
