As a follow up on a request point raised 7 years ago I would like to submit an official request to enable a "merge item" option.

Our business has several items deactivated that are duplicates of active items, but had to be "cloned" to enable new features like bin locations and/or batch tracking.
Numerous other customers have expressed serious need for the item merge capability as is seen in Quickbooks and many other accounting platforms.
