Need to Display Data

I have bulit an application to store a database. What i require is to be able to build a tab where i can enter one field from the database, lets say, customer's homephone number & click search,
and then the customers complete details are viewable on the screen in an editable format.
Its like the edit option which you have on the 'creat view' But basically i need a similar function on a completely seperate tab & full details to show up across the full browser page.
Would appreciate if you can assist me on this.
