Hello!

I'm setting up a volunteer database for my organization, and I'm trying to capture how many volunteers we have in a given year.

I've set up a main form for volunteer profiles, then a subform to record their hours for various events.  I have a page set up where I'm putting some stats for us to look up easily, one of them being how many volunteers we have in a given year.  

I connect the subform to the main profile form via a "Vounteer ID" number that I created and then linked to the main form (this was tedious as I was importing several years worth of volunteers and records of hours).  Now I want to be able to do a distinct count of how many Volunteer ID items I have in a date range - I assumed using the distinct count option was the way to go, and I set up my form of "Volunteer Hours" and the (related) field to "Volunteer ID" so that it would connect to the profile database and only count one record for each volunteer IF they volunteered in 2018 (the filter I set for selected records).  Here are what my settings look like:

I would think this would get me the results I'm looking for (??), but as soon as I close the editor and then reopen it, all my settings are gone - I'm not sure if it's because there's a glitch or if I didn't set it up properly.  

Any help (or suggested workarounds) would be greatly appreciated!!
