We are experiencing critical and recurring issues in Zoho POS that all trace back to role-permission handling defects in the latest POS app version. These issues directly affect syncing, login ability, and Sales Order access for role-restricted users — even when permissions are set correctly in Zoho Books, Inventory, and POS.
This has now impacted multiple user accounts, multiple devices, and multiple locations, and is affecting client confidence in Zoho POS.
1. Sync Failure at Login (Location Fetch Failure)
Several users encountered an immediate sync failure after login. The POS app fails specifically when attempting to fetch locations, resulting in an “Unable to Sync” error.
2. Sales Orders Cannot Be Accessed Despite Correct Permissions
Even after applying the recommended permissions, affected users cannot open Sales Orders. This confirms permission validation inside POS is broken and not aligned with Books/Inventory role definitions.
3. Temporary Workaround Requires Unsafe Permission Escalation
Support identified that adding Price List View access (and certain inventory permissions) enabled login + sync.
However, this is not a viable solution for production, as it requires granting privileges far beyond what a driver or sales rep should have. Roles that worked in previous versions no longer function as expected.
4. New Zoho Books Features Are Causing Major Conflicts (e.g., Sales Order Locking)
Recent updates to Zoho Books — specifically transaction locking on Sales Orders — are clashing with Zoho POS.
These new Books features create major functional conflicts with POS when combined with the role-permission bug.
