QR code and barcode scanning for mobile apps

QR code and barcode scanning for mobile apps

Hello everyone,

In our past mobile apps forums we have discussed a few of our Zoho Forms mobile-specific features. Today we'll shed some light on the QR and Barcode scanning feature, available for both Android and iOS devices.

QR code and Barcode

QR code (Quick Response code) and barcode are machine-readable codes, which are scanned to reveal the information in them.

When your users have an information as a QR code or a barcode, you can get them in your forms with a quick scan from their mobile device. Now when your users fill out a specific field, they can simply scan the code using the device's camera and auto-populate the data in that field.

To use this feature in your forms, you should enable scanning for each of the field you wish to auto-populate using these codes.

This feature applies to the following fields in Zoho Forms :

  • Single Line
  • Multi Line
  • Numbers
  • Decimal
  • Website
  • Currency
  • Email Address

Enabling QR code and barcode for iOS and Android devices.

Steps to enable this feature in your forms :

  1. Log into your Zoho Forms account.
  2. Open your form builder.
  3. Choose the field to which you want to allow QR codes and barcodes scan.
  4. Toggle QR Code or Barcode and enable them.

Here's a quick rundown of a few cases where this feature can come handy!

EVENT MANAGEMENT

Organizing an event for your business using an EVENT REGISTRATION form can be helpful. If the registrants have the QR code in the email or e-ticket of the invitation, the code can be scanned in the CANDIDATE field of the form. This confirms their check-in for the event.

INVENTORY CONTROL

For a warehouse inventory control, the stocks can be tracked easily when each product that enters and dispatches from the warehouse is labelled with a barcode. The barcode can be scanned in the STOCK CARD form. Now the form's report keeps track of when to re-order stock.

This feature will also iron out the hassle in data and lead collection, by allowing error-prone data (URL, product tag, etc) being scanned into forms.

Try out this feature to collect the lead data, facilitate event registration, and to manage inventory, efficiently, today!
