Records disappearing, any ideas?
Hi Everyone,
Been using Creator for seven years, awesome product but something worrying has just suddenly come to light. My clients system that tracks lab tests through the testing process has just 'lost' over 100 records!
I built this system in 2014 and it's been running perfectly all this time then all of a sudden we have had this disturbing glitch, let me explain.
The computer station in the lab was being used by a user logged in to the system. She was adding in a batch of samples to the system creating a new record for each. Her colleague on another workstation in an adjacent office logged in to Zoho Creator to start moving these samples through the process as the lab work was being done. However when the view containing the relevant records was called up, the 100 or sample records that the lab operator had added that morning were simply not there.
When I logged in remotely from my home office, I too could not see the samples that the lab operator had entered either. I couldn't even see them in an admin view that sees everything on the 60,000 record database as an overview.
The office based member of staff went down to the lab and looked at the lab operators view on her computer and the samples were there, in sequence and ready to move to the next stage. She then went back to the office, logged out of her computer and logged in again, she still could not see the samples entered by the lab operator.
I suggested the lab operator log out and log in again. She did so, went back to the View in question and all samples that she had entered over the course of that day had gone, disappeared completely!
Has anyone had a similar experience with disappearing records on the Zoho Creator system?
My first reaction was that the records being entered were being held in a cache and maybe the workstation had 'lost' it's connection to Zoho but was still allowing entry of records and awaiting re-connection in order to populate the database. Logging out cleared that cache and therefore the records were lost.
Is this possible?
Any information as to how this could have occurred and even better how we could ensure this does not happen again would be very welcome.
