Restricting Users to only certain records

Sorry for the newbie post.

Is it possible to restrict the records in a table (form) that any particular user can view. For example I'd love for my consultants to be able to have a view where they search for their username which will pull up his/her record adn only his/her record- and allow the consultant to add data, edit data and upload files to this form/table.

This functionality is different from what I see as the usual use of Creator: usually employees or other individuals who can see all data have access to the forms. But in my case the consultants are not employees and as such cant see any information about other consultants. I'd like them to be able to get to his/her own record and add or update personal information, submit work product, etc.

is there a way to do this or a work-around thats not too cumbersome for me or them?
