Sendmail on Deadline

Hi,

I am new to Zoho and I've been trying to create my first application. I understand that I can make the application send an e-mail when the form is submitted but is there a way to send an e-mail when the current date is getting close to the deadline (i.e in a to do list, send a notification when the due date is approaching without having to log in or submit the form)?
