Single select/Multiple select \'Choices\' box

I have a problem with the usability of the Single select/Multiple select 'Choices' box. My problem has to do with the fact that if the choices are edited in any way they no longer show up in their original records. Then I must go back and reselect the choices in each individual record.

To get around this I can create a form where I can add my choices. I then use the 'import data from' field type to select my choices. Then if I want to edit a 'choice' I don't end up losing everything.

The problem with this work around is I now have a bunch of extra tabs that cause problems with my layout.

Currently there is a single window where each 'choice' is entered one per line. What I would prefer is multiple numbered windows where I could enter each choice and each choice window would be tied to it's corresponding record so that it wouldn't go away if I decided I needed to edit the choice.
