Sort Order Changes

I sort my items by priority and I have it setup to go from high priority to low (arrow pointing down). Then I edit or add a project and when the screen re-freshes, it orders things by priority low to high (arrow pointing up).

Also, is there a way to set a cookie or something to remember the sort order so I don't have to re-choose it every time?
