SSL Unfulfilled Fantasy
SSL Unfulfilled Fantasy
Zoho is great. However, as the many posts below indicate, SSL on Creator is a top priority for many of your potential users. Your users have been requesting SSL in Creator for more than one and a half years. Users have also asked for a specific DATE when this will be available.
Forgive me for asking, but what's the hold up?
Zoho's standard response is, "we'll let you know", and "SSL/Https support is there in our medium priority list", "it will be available when Creator becomes part of the Business or premium package", and "we have a security guard in our facility".
--Why "medium priority"? Why not "top" priority? Many users, in the posts below, express their CRITICAL, HIGH-PRIORITY need for secure transactions.
--Why only for paid users? SSL is a standard option in MANY complimentary web services, such as email.
--A security guard is not going to protect my data when it's flying unencrypted across the internet. If my data is sniffed during the transaction, then it does not matter how secure your servers are.
--Why can't you give us a solid date?

Back in February 2007, svembu Zoho rep estimated "2 to 3 months" for a secure option to become available. That was 10 months ago.

One user says, "SSL should be straight forward to implement for your guys, simply buys the certs and setup in your web server."

--Is it true that implementing SSL would be easy for Zoho?
If so, why won't you offer this feature, when many of your users simply CANNOT DO WITHOUT IT?
Several users, over the past year and a half, said they will use Zoho for their business needs IF, and WHEN you support secure Creator apps. Zoho is losing users over this. Add me to the list. At first, I was thrilled to use Zoho for my business needs, and I began building my Creator app. Then I discovered that you don't offer SSL. Now I'm looking for a secure alternative to Zoho. It really seems that Zoho is dropping the ball and letting down potential users in a BIG WAY on this.
The amazing folks at LandOfZohoCreator.com, who built an entire website devoted to Zoho Creator, have devised a clunky, DIY method to "Encrypt and decrypt data in a Zoho Creator application." The LandOfZohoCreator guys know how important security is. They say they hope SSL will be supported by the new Creator API. As far as I tell, your Creator API does not support secure transfers.

I hope your response to this earnest request will be different from your standard answer. I love Zoho, and I want to use it-- securely.
Thanks for your time, and your otherwise awesome software.
