Store data linked to a year

Good day to all of you. I have a problem and i hope you could help me solve it. I have a zoho app with data from my school; pupils, grades, teachers, family interviews, discipline...

The point is now we are facing the new course and i dont know what to do with all that data from last course: i could delete all that data and get the app clean and ready for the new course (which i dont think is the best idea) or i could index and store all that data referring to that particular year/course.

The best way is, no doubt, the second. Should i insert in all my forms a field indicating the year/course (i have lots of forms and data!) or is there another easier way to do this?
