Is there a way to sort the order in which sub-form records (entries) appear on the parent form by a field other than the modify date?

Case:  I have a customers form with a contact log sub form that has a date selector date field. By default each entry in this contact log form appears on the main form in order by the date that the sub-form record was entered. Instead, I would like them to appear in order of date per the date selector field.
