Spelling, grammar and style suggestions

Zia doesn’t stop with the basics. She combines them with advanced machine learning techniques to provide contextual feedback about each sentence. From frequently confused words to punctuation and preposition errors, Zia is trained to identify common grammatical mistakes and suggest corrections. Zia underlines your phrase or text with different colors according to the severity and type of error found.

Red underlines are the most severe as they indicate spelling errors in your piece. Green underlines indicate grammar mistakes, and orange underlines are Zia's suggestions to improve your writing style.





Readability

What good is your writing if it's difficult for readers to understand? Zia is trained with the Flesch-Kincaid index, which means she analyses the structure of your sentences to let you know how easy it is for others to read them. If your phrases start getting too lengthy and complicated, she also suggests alternatives you can use to simplify your piece. 


 


Writing Quality

It's best practice to avoid using passive voice—especially in formal writing as it can make your sentences appear less direct. Zia lets you know if you're overusing adverbs and passive sentences. She warns you if you're slowly starting to sound cliched and suggests ways to structure your sentences better.
