Tips and Tricks #32: Easily shrink text or resize shapes in Show
Hi all!
Want to learn how to utilize the space within placeholders more effectively when entering text?
Using the Autofit feature in Show, you can easily fit your content into your preferred shapes.
The feature offers two options: Shrink text to shape and Resize shape to text.
As the name suggests, the Shrink text to shape option allows you to condense your content to fit within a particular shape area. For example, when you want to type some lines inside shapes in a flowchart, select the Shrink text to shape option to get an idea of the amount of space available in it so that you can add your content accordingly.
On the other hand, the Resize shape to text feature retains the size of the text as it is, while expanding the size of the shape to fit. You can use this option when you have some important text to display in the Textbox. For example, when you are drafting a "Table of Contents" slide, select the Resize shape to text option so that you can include more topics and sub-topics.
These alternatives eliminate the need for any manual adjustments, which at times can become tedious and tricky.
Bonus tip: In order to reflect your changes throughout the presentation, use the Autofit functions in the Master slide.
To perform the Autofit operation in Show:
Select the text within the placeholder.
Click Text under the Format panel and then click the Text Box drop-down.
Pick the option of your choice (either "Resize shape to Text," or "Shrink text to shape").
Apply different font effects to your text, such as Bold, Italic, or Underline.
