unable to give a numeric upon user input

Hi,
I am new to Zoho. Have practically no knowledge of programming.
I am having trouble in assigning numeric points.
I have a questionnaire with a check box for answers. I want to assign points to each of the answers upon user input. I dont want the points to be displayed to the user but stored for later use to be given with the report.
