User Limits

User Limits

At some point, I'll elaborate on where this topic came from. Suffice to say that there are discussions going on about user limits in Creator. I'd like for this to be a casual discussion on the topic. Maybe something will come out for a Cycle 4 Suggestion...

  • Is the current ZOHO business model of X users per subscription package the best value for the application developers?
  • Is the requirement for users to only sign-in via ZOHO Accounts (or Google, FB, etc federated accounts) the best solution for all applications?
  • Is the dualistic model of only private or public application settings limiting some applications?

One idea is to keep the defined user limits, but have the user pool potentially huge. How? This is the idea of
limiting access only by the number of concurrent users, and not a static list of user names the admin has set-up. In this way, an application could have an open registration system where people can edit their own records assuming the concurrent user limit was not hit.

Please comment on the questions above and also my proposal.

Thanks,
JMW
