View - criteria - only show records belonging to own userid

Hi, looking for some help here.
I have a simple form with just two fields: a username field and multiline text.
The form automatically adds the zoho.loginuser as the username field - and that works fine.
I want a view that shows only the entries of the logged in user - simple enough right?
So I set the view criteria for username field == zoho.loginuser

nothing shows in the view (I checked the CRM app in the marketplace and that doesn't work properly either so it's not just me)

I've tried getfunctions and all sorts but just getting nowhere fast with this niggling yet essential problem solved... HELPP!!!!
