What's the best way to create a custom module that can be linked to a parent module?

Hi,

I'm a writer and have developed a set of templates for common messages I sent to my clients, which I have 

Things like:
  1. Thank you for the brief / confirming receipt
  2. Status updates
  3. Here's the due date for your article
  4. Here's the finished article with a download link
I created a custom module called 'article' to reflect this workflow — even if some of the projects I'm working on are technically better described with alternative terms.

However, I couldn't figure out a way to relate this module to contacts — such that I could create an article for a client, and develop a template (or better yet) a workflow which could pull from both modules.

E.g.

Dear [client name]

Here's a project update regarding article with X title.

Is there a way to achieve this functionality within Zoho?
