Ravi runs a catering business. He has created invoices from his van, his kitchen, and once from a wedding car park.
Meera, meanwhile, prefers doing almost everything from her laptop.
Between the two of them, they have discovered an important part of using Zoho Invoice: not every job needs the same screen.
The basics are covered in our General FAQ, and Exploring Zoho Invoice gives you a tour of the application.
Use the mobile app for the everyday work you need to do on the move, and use the web application when you need the larger set of configuration options.
Once your organization is set up, you do not have to sit at a desk every time someone asks for an invoice.
The app keeps asking me to use the web version
The app will not install
The app crashes or gives me an error
I am being asked to update but cannot see an update
I am using Invoice Generator and cannot find my previous invoices
The app keeps asking me to use the web version That does not necessarily mean something is wrong with the app. Some settings and configuration options are better handled from the web application.
If you are setting up things such as templates, organization-level preferences, users, imports, exports, or other detailed configuration, try the web application. Once that setup is done, your everyday invoicing can continue from the phone.
And if you spend most of your day on the web version, take a look at Keyboard Shortcuts. A few shortcuts can make repetitive invoicing surprisingly quicker.
The app will not install Start with the simple checks:
Check whether your phone's operating system meets the app's current requirements.
Make sure you have enough storage.
Check the app-store listing for any device requirements.
If the device itself is not supported, repeatedly reinstalling the app will not solve it.
The app crashes or gives me a vague error Try the basics before doing anything drastic:
Close and reopen the app
Check your internet connection
Update the app if an update is available
Sign out and sign back in
Restart the device
If the same action works correctly on the web, include that information when you contact support. It immediately helps narrow down whether the problem is with the account or the device.
I am being asked to update but cannot see an update App updates may not always appear on every device at exactly the same time.
Check the store listing directly and confirm which version is currently available for your device.
And if you are considering reinstalling because of an app issue, remember that your Zoho Invoice records are associated with your account rather than being maintained only as local files on the phone.
I am using Invoice Generator and cannot find my previous invoicesZoho Invoice and an Invoice Generator are not the same experience.
An invoice generator is useful when your requirement is simply to create an invoice document quickly.
Zoho Invoice is designed for the longer relationship around that invoice — customers, transaction history, payments, reminders, reports, and the rest of your invoicing workflow.
If you regularly come back to find an old invoice, check a balance, or follow up on payment, make sure you are using the product that is designed to maintain that history.
On your laptop: If you are mostly a mobile user like Ravi, it is still worth spending some time on the web application for the initial setup. The web app gives you more options to configure things like your invoice preferences, templates, and business settings in one place. Once these are set up the way you want, they carry over to your everyday invoicing, making it much easier to create and manage invoices from the mobile app.

Check your app version.
Try the same action on the web.
Check which organization you are currently using.
Note exactly what you were doing when the error appeared.
If you still need help, send support@zohoinvoice.com your device model, operating-system version, app version, and the action you were trying to perform. Those details make troubleshooting much quicker.
Are you phone-first or laptop-first?
And if most of your invoicing happens from your phone, what is the one task you still prefer doing on the web?
