A Converted Lead to existing contact does not update all fields.. just some....Which one? That depends. Yikes

If you use the leads to capture data and ask customers to give you updated information l you might have this problem.
We use leads to filter, capture and update existing Customer data. 
The issue is upon conversion of that new data captured via the lead tab her is what appears to happen.

If the lead wants you to update his email address you cannot change it you can only create a duplicate... 
If the lead converting has blank fields those are filled in but if he changes for example his cell number and zip code, that is ignored and thrown out not converted. So now you have a contact with only some new information updated none of the changed info EXCEPT
If you have an account name change that will change but the address etc will not

So if you use leads, like we do, to get customers to fill out changed data or new information it is likely that your data will have major inconsistencies with no warning that data was not converted or updated to new
