Shopify B2B Integration: Option to Match Customers by Company Name

Shopify B2B Integration: Option to Match Customers by Company Name

It would be great if the Shopify integration could include Company Name as a customer matching option.

At the moment customers can only be matched by:

  • Email
  • Name
  • Email and Name
  • Phone

For businesses using Shopify B2B, the company is often the customer rather than the individual buyer. If a new order is placed by a buyer whose name or email doesn't match an existing customer, Zoho Inventory can create a new customer using the buyer's personal name instead of linking the order to the company.

In our case we'd like the option to match on Company Name, so all orders are linked to the correct company record.

For many businesses this may not make much difference, but larger wholesale customers often have multiple buyers using different email addresses. One person might place the first order, while someone else in purchasing or accounts places the next. Matching by company rather than the individual buyer would keep all orders under the same customer.

Has anyone else using Shopify B2B come across this? I'd be interested to hear if there's already a recommended workflow or whether others would also find Company Name matching useful.
