I understand that your priority may not be to reduce to much the storage requirement of the scanned receipts, but it would at least reduce the bandwidth to integrate a real scanner function including functions like in TinyScanner (Andriod) :

- crop scanned photo incl. angle correction
- possibility to set an absolute resolution like black/whithe or color 150 dpi
