Accounts should use only domain portion of a web address as the unique identifier / No way to prevent duplication of accounts?

In Zoho CRM for Accounts, I'm using website as the unique identifier.

This means if I have an account with the website crmplus.zoho.eu for example, I can't add a second account with the same website, crmplus.zoho.eu.

However, CRM fails to see that these are the same website:

Even having crmplus.zoho.eu/ with a forward slash on the end is seen as a different address.

I would like CRM to be smart enough to look at only the domain name portion of the website URL when deciding if it is a unique address. Otherwise website is entirely useless as a unique identifier, given how varied data can be presented (with/without https:// or https://, with or without www., with or without the final / and so on).

Given Account Name is not usable as a unique identifier either given many brands share the same name, there is currently no way that I can see to prevent large-scale duplication across your Account data in CRM.

This is standard behaviour on both Hubspot and SFDC (indeed, when I enquired users of those tools baffled by this behaviour in Zoho). I can't see how you can have a useable unique identifier for accounts otherwise.

Would love for somehow to provide a work around!
