Adding a user - error - Invalid Invitation. Invitation was not sent to this user
I struggled figuring out this cryptic Zoho Desk error message that apparently is not documented anywhere. I finally figured it out but wanted to add it here so no one else has to struggle to find it. Kudos to the ZD team for making error messages easy to decipher. </sarcasm>
If you are trying to add an agent and when they click the link to accept the invitation they see an error that says "Invalid Invitation. Invitation was not sent to this user" it means they were previously an agent in your Zoho Desk environment. Click on the gear icon in the upper right side of the screen and look for USERS AND CONTROL. Then click Agents. On the next page click Deleted Agents. The user you were trying to add should be listed. If you 'mouse over' the Agent's name you should see a toggle switch. Mousing over it will show "Anonymize". Anonymizing an agent means that the deleted agent will no longer be listed on any tickets or activities they worked before they were deleted. Toggle that switch on and you will be asked to confirm the process. It also lets you choose a nickname for the anonymized agent which should show on the activities and tickets they worked. Once you have anonymized the deleted agent, you can resend the invitation, which they will be able to click and join the team.
