Adding categories to new task?

Adding categories to new task?

I am not sure it is my method or if there might be an oversight.

When adding a new task, I can not add a category in the window you add the task with. It is defaulted to General. When I save the task, I can check its box in the list then change the category.

Seems like extra work to me.
