Adding history for events

Hello - we're just beginning our Zoho CRM adventure, and so I'm importing lots of information (we're using the free version right now until I have everything into the system, and then we'll upgrade). We don't have an enormous data set (about 500 contacts; 200 or so accounts), and not a huge need - yet - for customization.

We have a # of events in the past that we need to recreate the history for. I've imported all the contacts, set up an event, and added each person that attended each event as a participant.

The event now shows up as something they have been invited to...is there a way I can "convert" these so that there is a record they actually participated in the event (and so that when I look at the event I can see who was there)?
