AniSpam Feature Question

When exactly does the antispam feature kick in with the VirtualOffice? I've been running this for a couple weeks now and so far I'm still checking messages and marking them as spam, but nothing seems to ever get filtered on its own. What kind of spam engine is being used? Thanks.
