Scenario: Email address is a mandatory unique field on our contacts. We set up a web form to collect newsletter signups. Someone who's already in the CRM signed up.
Now, it'd be nice if Zoho would just recognize this and append the signup to the existing record based on the matching email. But in lieu of that, I'm confused what the workflow is supposed to be for the "Approve Records" (Leads, Contacts, etc.) screen.
1. On the "Contact Approval" list, I don't have any options to merge or dedupe the record based on a matching email. The only options are "approve" or "delete." But I don't want to do either of those things -- I want to merge the information from the webform (including the visit history) with an existing contact. Where do I do that?
Contact Approval screen2. If I go to the individual contact record, I'm supposed to be able to use a "Find & Merge Duplicates" option according to the first resource I listed below. I don't see that option anywhere; not in the three-dot menu at top right, and not in the page. Does it not appear on to-be-approved records?
... menu on a to-be-approved Contact3. If I go to the overall Contact module page and use "Deduplicate Contacts" in the "Actions" menu, I choose match based on email and wait...and it says no duplicates found. Does it not search to-be-approved records?
No duplicates found after a Contacts dedupe searchIf the answers to my questions in #2 and #3 above are "yes" then...I guess I understand that limitation. But then how am I supposed to go about merging/deduping records waiting to be approved? Zoho already knows they're duplicates -- that's why it put them in the approval queue!
