Hey folks,
Let's look at another new feature "Subforms", that we introduced last month during the Zoho CRM 2018 Release.
As part of making your module forms more simple and clutter-free, we are happy to introduce subforms. A subform is a secondary form or table, which is part of a primary form, and lets you associate multiple line items to a record.
Say you run a mobile store and use Zoho CRM to track the purchase and customer details. When customers buy mobile phones from the store, they also purchase accessories along with the phones. Different customers will want to purchase different accessories.
If you add multiple fields for these accessories in the primary form, you will just add unnecessary clutter to the primary form. You can use subforms instead, and add multiple line items easily. While your primary form will still be about the mobile phone, all the secondary details, such as name of the accessory, rate, quantity and discount can be added to the subform.
Similarly, lets say as the owner of a restaurant, you use Zoho CRM to capture your customer details. While the primary form in a Deal module will capture every customer visit to your restaurant, you can create a subform to add/track their orders, price and taxes. What's more, you can even have the total billable amount automatically calculated.
Using subforms, you can
- Include predefined aggregate functions (Sum, Average, Maximum and Minimum)
- Define Formula Functions
- Create New Fields for manual entries
- Create reports and dashboards
