Attachment Notifications in Zoho CRM

Hello,

Is there any way to keep track of new attachments? My company has a client that would like an email notification whenever a new attachment is uploaded.

My initial thought process was to have a workflow running every 15 minutes or so with a global CRM variable to keep track of changes in the total number of attachments, but there's quite a few pitfalls to that and the way the attachment API works leads me to believe that it would blow through a ton of API credits.

Has anyone found any good workarounds for similar issues or is there something I'm completely overlooking?
