Automation Requirement - Possible?
Hi there,
I have a very particular requirement amongst our potential use of Zoho CRM and I would like to find out if the desired functionality and behaviour is possible and if it is, how I would go about it.
Here is the requirement:
Step 1 - Update Contact with specialist data from external API
- Upon the creation of a new Contact, populate custom fields with response from third party API (using Contact ZIP field as API GET query parameter)
- I have experimented and achieved this functionality via Zapier. Question number one: Can this be achieved entirely within Zoho CRM and without Zapier?
Step 2 - Assign Contact to organisation ‘branch’
- Once the Step 1 custom fields have been populated, link Contact with neighbouring Custom Module record (namely Branches)
- One of the custom fields from Step 1 (namely Constituency, originally provided by external API), contains a clue as to which Branch the person should be assigned to, which will be used for this lookup
- The Custom Module, entitled Branches, will define a list of branches, and each branch will have a list of one or more constituencies
- The required action is to link the Contact with a Branch based on the contact’s custom field value Constituency, which is a sub-value of one Branch only in the Branches custom module
My question: Are the above described automated actions possible? And is Zapier required to play a role or can it be achieved with Zoho CRM alone?
If anyone could roughly explain the steps necessary to achieve this functionality, I can then experiment with our Enterprise trial account and test it before committing to an annual subscription.
