Awkward task entry

I am completely new Zoho project user and am trying to enter my first project. The process is very awkward and I wonder if I missed something.
Enter task #1
Enter task #2 with start date = finish date of #1
Cannot set dependency at entry (major inconvenience)
Go to dependency view and try to set #1 as predecessor to #2. Not accepted
By trial & error I find that dependent task start date must come after previous task en date.

I am used to enter tasks to start at present date, give duration and then set dependencies so get them scheduled in time.

The help file shows very different screens and i probably for a previous version

Is my understanding of the ZP behavior correct?

Question 2
If dependencies ar set up and and a task is delayed, are dependent tasks adjusted or do I have to do that manually?

Any experiences out there?? If my understanding is correct and adjustments must be made manually ZP is a toll only for the tiniest projects with only a handful of tasks.
