Backup/Restore of all CRM Settings (not data)

We are interested in trying out some changes to our CRM Page Layouts and views. Is there some way to backup all our settings so that if we don't like the changes we can simply revert them all to the version backed up?

I understand that if we add custom fields and populate them with data, that it would not be possible to remove the new fields and their data with this type of backup/restore. All we want to do is be able to rearrange things and put it back the way it was rather than having to undo all the changes individually.
