Blank Email Merge Fields on Cases

Blank Email Merge Fields on Cases

I have setup an email template for the cases module to be used as an autoresponder for the web 2 case form. There are 2 fields that I would like to merge at the moment, and they are coming through as blank on the email:

${Cases.Reported By} - this is a standard field
${Cases.External Case Number} - this is a custom field where type = autonumber

These fields do not seem to be merging properly for some reason. Any thoughts on how I can get this to work??
