Can someone please explain why Zoho Mail blows so badly?

I switched to Zoho Mail for one reason--I am fed up with Google and would like to migrate all of my activity elsewhere and eventually delete my Google account for good. I had an old domain so I set everything up and even though the migration was half-baked, it was good enough to get the ball rolling.
The trouble I am having is that for some reason Zoho Mail appears to be almost devoid of any feature one might reasonably want to use. You can't sort mail by columns such as From, Subject, Date, etc. The mobile email app has no way to view contacts. So what am going to memorize all my contacts any time I want to send an email? Also, when you do a text search it doesn't highlight the search term, so if I have a super long email there is no way to find the search term other than reading the whole thing. In short, this mail client seems like a useless artifact left over from the early days of the world wide web. It is pretty much a worthless time waster for any business person who is trying to get things done. I don't want to go back to Google but at this rate Zoho just doesn't seem to be a legitimate alternative.
