Can we automate assigning territories to Contacts who do not have Accounts?

Can we automate assigning territories to Contacts who do not have Accounts?

Our clients are primarily individuals and most do not have a company or Account associated with them. 

We would like to automatically assign territories to them based on their country of residence, but the rules seem only to work for Accounts.

Is is possible to automatically assign territories to Contacts who do not have Accounts associated with them?
