I would like a feature in ZohoCRM that would allow me to change a field from one type to another, and preserve the data, workflows, layouts for that field. Essentially the same effect that "renaming" a field has where nothing really changes but the name.
This of course would only work between certain field types and not others. But it's fair to assume you could change between a more restrictive field type to a less restrictive one.
Example field type changes that would be compatible:
- Single Line > Multi Line
- Number > Decimal
- Email or Phone or Date or Number or Currency or Decimal etc > Single Line or Multi Line
I'm certain others would agree that this would be a very useful feature as it would save hours of labor, minimize errors, and preserve data that could otherwise be lost.
