Change lead status when email or call is initiated

Change lead status when email or call is initiated

I'm new to Zoho and trying to configure it to work with our sales process. As new leads come in, I put them into the "Not Contacted" status. I'd like to updated the leads status to "Attempted to Contact" automatically as soon as my sales rep initiates call or email. So far, I have not found a way to automate this. Any help is appreciated!
