Change Text Color for each choice in a drop down box form.

I have attached a partial image of my form. Under the Status Field, I have 5 choices in the drop down box. 

Is there a simple way to change the background color for the text? I would like to have a different background color for each choice in the drop down box

Is an html page used? If so, how is it done.
