Changing a Lead to a Potential

Changing a Lead to a Potential


I see that when I update a potential to 'closed' status it automatically creates an account. As I was testing out the lead functionality, I expected that when I updated a lead to 'pre-qualified' or some of the others that it would transfer to the potential category. Is there anything that does this, or do I have to manually update the leads to potentials?
